Heart health by nutrolution
the problem:
Heart disease is still the leading cause of death in the United States, and it's estimated to cost us $466 billion dollars in 2010, according to the American Heart Association. It's almost hard to conceive that a disease which is preventable through diet & lifestyle coulasd cost us so many lives and dollars. Now, to make the problem even worse, children are showing early signs of heart disease.
the nutritional link:
Heart disease can be prevented and even reversed through nutritional changes. It's caused by a host of factors, including an excess of junk food which produces free radicals, and a lack of anti-oxidants, minerals, essential fatty acids and amino acids which support, nourish, and protect the cardiovascular system. Some people assume that well-marketed packaged food is adequate nourishment for their bodies, when really it’s nowhere close! We need the essential and protective nutrients found in fresh foods every day: fruits, vegetables, hormone-free animal protein, eggs, butter, nuts, seeds, and olive/coconut/sesame oil. Another nutritional link to heart disease has to do with inflammatory foods we consume including wheat and soy, which can become a problem in maintaining cardiovascular health.
The solution:
Become educated about which foods are the true perpetrators for heart disease and make nutritional changes now to prevent future heart issues. Consume more colorful fruits, dark vegetables, nuts, seeds, avocado, organic eggs and animal protein, fish, legumes, and true whole grains, which include brown rice, wild rice, quinoa, oat groats (contains gluten), spelt (contains gluten), barley (contains gluten), and rye (contains gluten). Avoid white and wheat flour which are difficult to digest and inflammatory in nature due to the high level of gluten found in wheat. Eliminate processed foods that contain corn syrup, trans-fats (AKA "hydrogenated oil"), MSG, aspartame, sucralose, artificial colors or flavors, excessive sugar in any form, wheat, gluten, and other synthetic or difficult to digest ingredients. Consider implementing a nutritional supplement program to increase your levels of anti-oxidants, minerals, systemic enzymes, essential fatty acids, and other personal nutritional deficiencies. Replace sugar with nutrolution approved sweeteners.
