The Problem:
The human immune system is a powerful operation which requires a nutritious and supportive lifestyle to sustain. When you are susceptible to colds & flu's, it indicates a stressed out immune system. If you have a virus in your system (HSV, HPV, HIV, or another), you must take extra good care to support your immune army.
There’s a class of diseases on the rise called auto-immune diseases which were barely existent 50 years ago. The medical system has no methods for improving these diseases except for anti-inflammatory meds, pain meds, and a few others. Truly, people with autoimmune disease should be focusing on eliminating foods which cause immune stress and put in foods which support it.
It is important to keep in mind that long term, a stressed out immune system leads to a greater potential for developing a malignant cancer, since the immune system is also responsible for catching and eradicating cancer cells.
The nutritional link:
Your immune system is like an army, which needs to be well fed and rested everyday to perform at its best. Through healthy nutrition, you can literally strengthen your army. Certain nutrients such as protein and zinc are so vital for the immune system, that without enough, your system can completely break down. For this reason, these are key nutrients to pay attention to getting enough of when your immune system feels down. Other nutrients that join forces to amplify your immune system are enzymes and antioxidants. These actually act as extra supporters by neutralizing free radical attackers and viruses.
Essential fatty acids, such as Omega-3s, is another nutrient class well researched to support immune health. Also, certain herbs such as astragalus and echinacea are also effective in nourishing and supporting the immune system. Dietary toxins, chemicals, bacteria, yeast (candida), food allergens and inflammatory proteins can cause the immune system to break down and may lead to serious immune problems including autoimmune disease and cancer.
Our solution:
Get educated on how to give your immune system what it needs. To start, make sure you're getting enough organic protein, essential fatty acids (aka healthy fat), minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, good bacteria, and healthy carbohydrates i.e. vegetables and fruits. You may need to reduce or completely eliminate foods that cause immune stress, including sugar, processed foods, all chemical-laden foods including antibiotics, pesticides, preservatives, MSG, hydrogenated fats, etc. These all require more activity from your immune system which can tie up troops that your body needs elsewhere. If you think you may have Candida or bacterial dysbiosis in your intestines, start an anti-microbial program (which we can help you with.)
