Kids Nutrition by Nutrolution

What's wrong with kid's nutrition today?

Almost everything. More and more kids are overweight and obese. Many are developing diabetes, cancer, asthma, skin disorders, brain disorders, and even heart disease at an age that was unthinkable just over two decades ago. Kids are poorly fed at school, and pumped with TV and radio marketing for junk - foods laden with sugar, chemicals, artificial colors and flavors, trans fats, MSG, and gluten. Kids get all the wrong foods at school and rarely learn anything in their curriculum about how to nourish themselves or the links between food and disease. In most cases, kids are completely unaware of the process involved in food production, and have completely lost the connection to the principles of growing food and how to prepare it. Kids are living in an era that even their parents are living in the omnivore's dilemna over which foods are good for them. Unhealthy kids are at a huge disadvantage for a good life when they have to deal with obesity and health problems at such an early age. Also, consider that the financial implication of a nation of kid's in poor health may become a national disaster, if it hasn't already.

Our solution?

Educate our kids. Teach them about food, and how to eat to support their unique biochemistry. Empower kids about how to read labels and understand what's in their food, and how it affects their bodies. Teach kids how to plan snacks and choose what to eat at school and restaurants to stay healthy. Help kids understand that food marketing is a ploy that they don't need to fall victim to. And, teach kids about nutrition, and how to prepare healthy foods in ways that are delicious and convenient. Set an example for your kids by eating healthily and encouraging them to do the same. Offer your kids 2-3 healthy options for each meal and snack, and have those foods readily available. Make sure the healthy foods you offer your kids always look appealing and appetizing through adding different colored and shaped food to each plate.

5 Nutrition Tips for Kids

1. Practice Reading Food Labels- become aware of toxic ingredients like trans-fats, articificial colors & flavors, MSG, sucralose & aspartame
2. Dunk the “Junk”- get rid of all toxic foods and drinks as identified by label reading (see above)
3. Eat more "real" foods- before you eat, ask yourself, "does this grow in the ground, on a tree, or does it graze on grass or swim in the ocean?"
4. Make a healthy snack list & stick to it- Glucosupport bars (all flavors), apple w/ nut butter, turkey roll up, crackers and cheese, carrot and celery sticks w/ dip, berries with fresh whipped cream, and avalanche supreme (fruit, yogurt, nuts and coconut shreds all drizzled together on a plate all mixed up)
5. Drink healthy drinks- water with lemon, strawberries, mint leaves, lime, iced herbal teas, home-made ‘spritzers’, home-made chocolate milk using organic milk, agave, and cocoa powder blended
